Stork season in Poland- open air sewing workshops and first stork steps on the ground!

We are in the middle of the white stork fieldwork this season. Because of climate suprises (hot summer since mid April), the stork breeding season is mixed up. There are nests with ready to fly nestlings and newborns!
This year, besides standard ringing and measuring, we wider the research:
We are collecting the blood from nestlings to perfom two analysis,one about the stress and other about the immunology efficiency
We are equipping nestlings with GPS-GSM transmitters.
Since the beginnging of the season, some nests are monitored by trapping cameras.
Work in Poland in compare to Spiain is soooo much time consuming! Because of the lack of colonies, we travel many kilometres to achieve the single nest! Of course, we have the assistance of cherry-picker, only sometimes the ladder. So vertigo isn’t desirable neither. All days, we have the company of biology students.
